The Hollow Pond

We needed to do target audience research to ensure that our film lived up to the expectations of our audience. Finding out what the audience liked and disliked told us how to write and shoot our film by seeing suggestions of what to include/ not include. The results from our questionaire gave us a clear understanding of our audience and their expectations and set a criteria of the different ways we make the audience feel. For example, 100% of the people we asked told us that they expect a thriller to build and focus on tension, excitement and suspense. When filming our two minute opening, we reflected on the research we gathered and ensured that the film was exciting and tense by building and releasing tension. We knew we had succeeded meeting our audience's expectations when we asked four teenagers (the target audience) if it was tense and they replied with positive answers in our evaluation questions.
