We used food colouring because it was a brighter red than the fake blood we had, meaning the tones would come out clearer on camera. The blood was used to convey to the audience that Richard's character had been attacked violently without showing the actual attack intimately.

Mirror
Fake Blood
In our research, we discovered that bad omens were used frequently in thriller films to foreshadow future dangers. We researched many omens and one of the most well known omens was a broken mirror. As a group, we watched and were inspired by the opening of Nicolas Roeg's Don't Look Now in which there are multiple omens; one of which being when the boy rides over a mirror and it smashes- seen below.

Phone and Black Gloves

We used the colour contrast of the white phone next to the black gloves to symbolise how the killer covers up anything he touches, like a shadow. This establishes his unknown identity.
