The Hollow Pond
MAHD Productions
This means that this film is suitable for people of all ages and is unlikely to contain material that will offend or harm. It contains little or no sexual content. Fight scenes are mostly comical rather than full of blood and gore. It is quickly resolved and is reassuring to the viewers.
Mild terms are used such as ''bum'' and ''moron'' but they are unlikely to offend. There are several race and chase scenes within the film but they are appropriate for younger viewers as there is no threat.
A flashback to WW2 shows explosions as the Japanese fleet open fires on US fighter planes. Another scene shows a plane disqaulified for using a perfomance enhancing additive in his fuel
Anyone over 12 may see this film unaccompanied by an adult but if you are under 12 you need to be with an adult to watch the film. 12a ratings are only used in cinemas. Parents may take younger children in at their discretion even though it may contain inappropriate material such as longer fight scenes with weapons. Action scenes are longer than pg films with a lot of explosions and gunfire. One of the fight scenes shows heavy blows to the leg and feet and a stab wound to the leg but not in much detail. Strong language is only used once by the president and moderate language is used throughout the film. One sex reference is made but does not go into further detail.
Even accompanied by an adult no one under the age of 15 may buy, rent or watch a film rated 15. It contains more violence and frequent strong language. Nothing is banned so long as it is appropriate for those aged 15. Drug use may be shown but it shouldn’t encourage the misuse of drugs.
The film is about a friendly drug dealer who hires his neighbors to go with him to mexico so he can bring back drugs for his employer without drawing too much attention to himself. There is a scene set in a stip club but it is not shown in much detail. No drug use is actually portrayed in this film.
Nothing is banned or prohibited at 18 as only adults are supposed to view it. There are very strong violent scenes, strong language, real sex scenes and lots of gore and horror. The discriminatory scenes may contain racism or homophobic behaviour. For example the film ''FILTH''
It is rated 18 because of explicit sex scenes, strong language and hard drug use. One of the scenes is set in a brothel which shows some sexual activity. The scenes with drug use do not endorse it but show the consequnces negatively.

I wrote this page to find out the different certificate ratings and how films are rated based on their content. This would help my group as we had a further insight into what our certifcate rating would be. It was helpful because it made it easier to tell the different ratings apart as some films can be difficult to tell.
